About Namaste ONG

Local solutions
for local problems

Namaste ONG was born from the trip to Nepal of José de la Torre Casas, our president, and from the commitment to keep supporting what he discovered there. Since then, we have collaborated with projects centred on children and we are actively involved in many of them.

We work hand in hand with organisations in each village because we believe they are the ones who know their own needs best. Our role is to provide resources, people and support so they can meet their own goals, without replacing them or imposing external views.

  • Children are the priority in every project we run.
  • Direct work with local organisations and communities.
  • Responsible, trained and committed volunteering.
  • Real impact in education, health and community development.

Four ways to contribute in Nepal

Experiences designed together with our local partners. We adapt to your profile, your dates and the real needs of the project. All programs are open to anyone willing to teach, learn and come with an open mind.

Educational support

Teach, motivate and raise awareness in Newari schools

Since our early days we have supported a school in Bhaktapur, and more recently two schools in the village of Panauti. Volunteer teachers can teach English, maths, natural and social sciences, and lead extracurricular activities in art, music, sport or theatre.

In Nepal there are more than 2.5 million children affected by child labour. Public education is limited and many families do not send their children to school because they don't see its value. That's why our program has a triple goal: contribute to English learning, motivate and train teachers, and raise awareness among families of children out of school.

  • What you'll do: teach classes, design creative activities, support teachers and visit families.
  • Who you help: children aged 4 to 16 from Newari communities.
  • Areas: Bhaktapur and Panauti (13 km and 30 km from Kathmandu).
  • Ideal profile: teamwork, a desire to teach and learn, patience, tolerance, creativity and imagination.

Children's home in Nepal: Namaste ONG supports vulnerable minors 02 · Shelter
Children's homes

Be a big brother or sister to those who need it most

Our foster homes support minors who have suffered orphanhood, abandonment, caste-system discrimination or physical or psychological disabilities. In Nepal there are more than 350,000 children living in homes like these, many of whom have families but cannot be supported by their communities of origin.

You will work side by side with local staff supporting the everyday life of the home: homework, routines, caring for the younger ones and maintaining the facilities. We also encourage you to propose workshops, day trips and any initiative that enriches their lives.

  • What you'll do: support English and homework, daily routines, creative workshops, hygiene habits.
  • Who you help: children aged 6 to 13, some with disabilities.
  • Areas: Goljung, Gatlang, Bhaktapur, Lukla, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Hetauda.
  • Ideal profile: sensitivity, sustained commitment, a desire to care and build connections.

Namaste ONG health programme in rural communities in Nepal 03 · Health
Health programme

Health and prevention for the most vulnerable children

Designed for healthcare professionals and students — doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists — contributing to better health for the children in our foster homes and the rural communities where we work. Nepal's health system has one doctor per 12,000 inhabitants, and in mountain villages coverage is practically non-existent.

The programme includes treatment follow-up, medication stock control, preventive programs (hygiene, dental health, nutrition) and support for local staff. We are currently working on the reopening of a clinic in the Langtang area.

  • What you'll do: check-ups, prevention, education in healthy habits, support with medical records.
  • Who you help: children and families in rural communities and foster homes.
  • Areas: Goljung, Gatlang, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Hetauda, Langtang.
  • Ideal profile: healthcare professionals and students in health-related fields.

Volunteering in Buddhist monasteries in Nepal with Namaste ONG 04 · Culture
Buddhist monasteries

English and shared life with young Tibetan monks

Buddhist monasteries are the spiritual and educational centres of the Tibetan refugee community in Nepal. Many children arrive at the monastery around age 7–8 by family tradition, because of orphanhood or because their families cannot support them. Being a monk in Nepal is, in many ways, being a child in foster care.

We work with two monasteries, one in Pokhara and another in Namobuddha. Your main task is to teach conversational English to young monks and teenagers, plan creative activities (games, drawing, painting) and establish hygiene routines. You'll be able to observe Buddhist rituals, meditate in your free time and attend daily philosophy classes.

  • What you'll do: English classes, general education, creative activities, hygiene routines.
  • Who you help: young monks and teenagers, mostly of Tibetan origin.
  • Areas: Pokhara, Namobuddha, Mustang and Dulikhel.
  • Ideal profile: respect for other traditions, calm, ability to work autonomously.

Volunteering impact

Sustained work, not a one-off gesture

Our programs are built on years of continued work with the same communities. These are some of the pillars that shape our experience.

0 Years of work Supporting projects in Nepal from the very start.
Hundreds Of volunteers People who have experienced Nepal from within with us.
0 Areas of action Education, children's homes, health and monasteries.
0 Active projects Direct collaboration with local partners.

We believe the best way to help is to put resources at the service of those who are already doing the work on the ground.

Why cooperate in Nepal

A small country,
with great challenges

Nepal is a deeply diverse country, with more than a hundred ethnic groups and cultures. Behind its beauty lies a reality of inequality, rural poverty and vulnerable children that calls for responsible and sustained cooperation.

Eight out of every ten people live in remote rural areas. Agricultural productivity is low, opportunities are scarce, and children pay too high a price: lack of schooling, malnutrition and child labour. That is where we want to be.

80% Rural population

Remote communities with limited access to basic services.

350k Children in shelters

Minors who have lost or been separated from their family environment.

651k Out of school

Children without access to primary education across the country.

40% Population under 15

Nepal's future depends on what we do today for its children.

A transformative experience
"Coming back from Nepal is not coming back with full hands — it's coming back with new eyes. You learn from calmness, from the dignity with which communities hold their own lives together, and you discover that sometimes helping is, above all, about being there and listening."
